Pre-hospital emergency services require rapid response times, as delays in care can increase the risk of patient mortality and disability. The response speed of Public Safety Center (PSC) 119 personnel is influenced not only by facilities and service systems but is also believed to be linked to the personnel's knowledge and attitudes regarding decision-making and the provision of prompt, accurate care. Objective: To determine the relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of PSC 119 personnel and response times for pre-hospital emergency care. Methods: A quantitative study using a cross-sectional approach and total sampling of 131 respondents. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman Rank test. Results: The majority of personnel demonstrated good knowledge (78.6%; n=103) and good attitudes (83.2%; n=109), with response times falling into the "good" category (<10 minutes; 76.3%; n=100 incidents). Statistical tests revealed a significant relationship between knowledge and response time (p<0.001; r=0.824, very strong) and between attitude and response time (p<0.001; r=0.365, weak). Conclusion: Better personnel knowledge and attitudes lead to more optimal response times, with knowledge playing a more dominant role than attitude in pre-hospital emergency services. Recommendations: PSC 119 is encouraged to continue improving the quality of pre-hospital emergency services by conducting regular emergency training and simulations, periodically evaluating response time performance, and developing the competencies of all personnel. Furthermore, efforts to optimize communication systems, strengthen coordination with relevant agencies, and provide adequate facilities and infrastructure should be sustained to ensure increasingly effective service response times.References
