Medical students are a group vulnerable to academic stress due to the high academic demands and various emotional and social pressures encountered throughout their educational process. A demanding curriculum, expectations for academic achievement, a competitive learning environment, and family conditions may influence students' stress levels. Data regarding factors associated with academic stress among medical students in Aceh remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between gender, family status, and academic cohort and the level of academic stress among students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Abulyatama, in 2026. This study employed a quantitative analytical correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 243 students from the 2022–2024 cohorts of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Abulyatama, were included as respondents using a total sampling technique. Data were collected online using the Perceived Stress Scale-10 (PSS-10) questionnaire. Stress levels were consistently categorized as low, moderate, and high. The data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents experienced moderate stress (66.7%), followed by low stress (24.3%) and high stress (9.1%). The analysis demonstrated significant relationships between gender (p = 0.017), family status (p = 0.000), and academic cohort (p = 0.000) and the level of academic stress among students. The proportion of students experiencing high stress was greater among male students (12.3%), students from non-intact families (16.5%), and students from the 2024 cohort (17.3%). It can be concluded that gender, family status, and academic cohort were significantly associated with the level of academic stress among students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Abulyatama.References
