Hypertension is one of the most common non-communicable diseases among older adults and is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. As individuals age, physiological changes in the cardiovascular system may contribute to an increase in blood pressure. One non-pharmacological approach that can help control blood pressure among older adults with hypertension is low-intensity aerobic exercise. This study aimed to determine the effect of low-intensity aerobic exercise on blood pressure among older adults with hypertension at UPTD Panti Sosial Lanjut Usia Geunaseh Sayang. This study employed a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 13 older adults with hypertension who were selected using purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of walking for 15 minutes, three times per week, for four weeks. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results showed that the mean systolic blood pressure decreased from 149.15 mmHg to 144.31 mmHg, while the mean diastolic blood pressure decreased from 91.62 mmHg to 87.69 mmHg. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.00024 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of low-intensity aerobic exercise on blood pressure among older adults with hypertension. It can be concluded that low-intensity aerobic exercise in the form of walking is effective in helping reduce and control blood pressure among older adults with hypertension at UPTD Panti Sosial Lanjut Usia Geunaseh Sayang. The mean reduction in systolic blood pressure was 4.84 mmHg, while the mean reduction in diastolic blood pressure was 3.93 mmHg.References
