Abstract

The availability of standard-compliant hand hygiene facilities is an important component of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) programs in healthcare facilities. Evaluating these facilities is necessary to determine their compliance with established standards. This study aimed to evaluate the availability of hand hygiene facilities at the Krueng Barona Jaya Community Health Center, Aceh Besar. A quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted. The study included all 13 service units using total sampling. Data were collected through direct observation using a checklist and analyzed using univariate analysis. The results showed that 11 service units (84.6%) had hand hygiene facilities, while 2 service units (15.4%) did not. Regarding completeness, 3 service units (23.1%) were categorized as complete, 6 service units (46.2%) as partially complete, and 4 service units (30.7%) as incomplete. Soap dispensers had the highest availability (61.5%), whereas tissue or hand-drying facilities had the lowest availability, with none of the service units meeting the required standard (0%). The availability of hand hygiene facilities at Krueng Barona Jaya Community Health Center, Aceh Besar, remains uneven across service units. This indicates that most service units have not yet fully met the required standards. Therefore, improvements and equitable provision of hand hygiene facilities in every room are needed to support the implementation of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program.
