Laporan Kasus: Penatalaksanaan Dini Acne Vulgaris pada Remaja

Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit that commonly occurs in adolescents and may cause physical as well as psychosocial impacts if not managed appropriately. This case report highlights the importance of early management of acne vulgaris in adolescents to prevent disease progression and long-term complications. A 15-year-old male adolescent presented with multiple open and closed comedones on both cheeks that had been present for three months and had progressively increased in number. The patient had a family history of acne vulgaris in his mother, as well as a habit of consuming fast food and foods high in sugar. Dermatological examination revealed multiple open and closed comedones on both buccal regions without inflammatory lesions, leading to the diagnosis of mild acne vulgaris. The patient was treated with topical tretinoin cream at night, combined with azelaic acid cream and erythromycin gel in the morning, accompanied by education regarding skincare, sunscreen use, treatment adherence, and risk factor modification. Comprehensive management initiated at an early stage of acne vulgaris plays an important role in controlling lesion progression, preventing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and permanent scarring, and maintaining the quality of life of adolescents.References
