Abstract

Gastritis is an inflammation of the gastric mucosa that remains a frequently encountered health issue among adult patients. The condition can be influenced by various factors, such as irregular eating habits, stress, Helicobacter pylori infection, and unhealthy lifestyles. Objective: To determine the prevalence and characteristics of adult patients with gastritis at RSUD Meuraxa Banda Aceh in 2024. Methods: This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a retrospective approach, utilizing medical record data from adult patients diagnosed with gastritis. A total sampling technique was used, resulting in a sample of 33 patients who met the inclusion criteria. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and presented as frequency distributions and percentages. Results: The study showed that the majority of gastritis patients fell into the 18–59 age group (26 patients; 78.8%), were female (22 patients; 66.7%), worked in the non-civil servant sector (18 patients; 54.5%), and presented with epigastric pain as the primary clinical complaint (21 patients; 63.6%). Conclusion: The study results indicate that adult gastritis patients at RSUD Meuraxa Banda Aceh were predominantly aged 18–59, female, non-civil servants, and presented primarily with epigastric pain.
