Flies, Fly DensityAbstract
Flies are mechanical vectors that can carry bacteria and contaminate food through their bodies and legs. The density of flies can reflect the sanitary hygiene conditions of an environment, so the higher the density of flies, the greater the risk of food contamination. Mining company canteens have this potential risk due to worker activities and environmental conditions. This study aims to identify fly density and determine fly species in the dining room of mining company X, Southeast Minahasa. This study uses a descriptive observational research type with a field survey approach carried out in May 2026. The population in this study were flies in the mining dining room area. The research instruments used in this study were Fly Grill to measure fly density levels, Fly Trap to capture fly samples. The results showed that the density of flies in the Indonesian citizen dining room was found to be an average of 6-7, while the foreigner dining room was found to be an average of 1-2. The types of flies found were Musca domestica and Chrysomya megacephala. The conclusion of this research shows that the density of flies in the dining room specifically for Indonesian citizens is classified as dense and exceeds quality standards and therefore requires control, while the dining room specifically for foreign citizens is classified as low and meets quality standards.References
