Abstract

The eyelids play an important role in protecting the eyeball from trauma, maintaining tear film stability, and preserving ocular surface moisture. The complex eyelid structure consists of the anterior, middle, and posterior lamellae; therefore, tissue loss caused by trauma, infection, congenital abnormalities, or excision of eyelid lesions may result in functional and aesthetic impairment. Eyelid reconstruction is required to restore anatomical continuity, ocular protective function, and optimal cosmetic outcomes. The selection of reconstructive techniques, including primary closure, local flaps, or tissue grafts, depends on the size and location of the defect, the involvement of the eyelid lamellae, and the condition of surrounding tissues. Postoperative evaluation is essential to assess reconstructive success based on adequate eyelid closure, eyelid position, ocular surface protection, aesthetic outcomes, and the occurrence of complications. This case report aims to evaluate the outcomes of eyelid reconstruction following excision of eyelid lesions as a basis for selecting the optimal reconstructive technique.
