Ruptur Kornea Dengan Prolaps Iris Dan Endoftalmitis Akibat Trauma Serpihan Logam: Laporan Kasus

Abstract

Metallic-fragment trauma may cause corneal rupture, prolapse of intraocular tissue, and sight-threatening infection. A 25-year-old man sustained a right-eye injury while hammering iron without protective eyewear. After initially declining intervention, he presented with foreign-body sensation, pain, redness, and decreased vision. Examination revealed visual acuity of 1/∞ with poor light perception, conjunctival hyperemia, a 2-mm hypopyon, iris prolapse from 1 to 3 o’clock at the limbus, an irregular pupil drawn toward 2 o’clock, and corneal rupture. The ophthalmologist diagnosed right corneal rupture with iris prolapse and endophthalmitis. Corneal suturing, iris repositioning, and exploration were performed, followed by medical treatment and postoperative monitoring. Prompt management and appropriate eye protection are essential in high-risk metalwork.
