Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is a growing global health problem, with Indonesia ranking fifth worldwide in terms of the number of people with the condition; successful management of the disease depends heavily on patients’ self-efficacy and self-management, which studies indicate remain relatively low. ased on a preliminary study at the Outpatient Clinic of Dr. Sitanala General Hospital in Tangerang, the number of patients with type 2 diabetes remains high and fluctuates, while research on the relationship between self-efficacy and self-management and quality of life in that region is still limited. Objective: To determine the relationship between self-efficacy and self-management on the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus undergoing routine checkups at the Outpatient Clinic of Dr. Sitanala General Hospital in Tangerang City. Research Method: A quantitative study using a descriptive-correlational approach and a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 102 respondents with a history of type 2 diabetes mellitus, selected using accidental sampling. Data analysis employed Spearman’s rank correlation test to determine the presence, direction, and strength of the relationship between variables. Results: Most respondents had moderate levels of self-efficacy (52.9%) and self-management (52.9%), as well as moderate quality of life (46.1%). The Spearman rank test showed a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and quality of life (p<0.001; r=0.460) and between self-management and quality of life (p<0.001; r=0.502). This indicates that the higher the levels of self-efficacy and self-management, the better the quality of life for patients with type 2 diabetes. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and self-management and the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes at the Outpatient Clinic of Dr. Sitanala General Hospital.References
