Abstract

Stunting remains one of the major nutritional problems among children under five in Indonesia and is associated with chronic undernutrition and recurrent infections. This study aimed to describe the prevalence and characteristics of stunting among children under five in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas IV Koto in 2025. This study employed a quantitative descriptive design with a retrospective approach. Data were obtained from the EPPGBM (Electronic Recording and Reporting of Community-Based Nutrition) records of UPTD Puskesmas IV Koto in August 2025. The study sample consisted of 532 children aged 0–59 months. Descriptive analysis was conducted to determine the distribution of stunting by age, sex, and nagari. The results showed that the prevalence of stunting was 14.29%, with the highest proportion recorded in Nagari Balingka (90.79%) and the lowest in Nagari Sungai Landia (9.21%). Most cases of stunting occurred among children aged 24–59 months (68.42%) and were more prevalent among boys (55.26%) than girls (44.74%). These findings indicate that stunting remains a public health problem influenced by nutritional intake, socioeconomic conditions, sanitation, and childcare practices. Therefore, sustainable cross-sectoral interventions are needed through nutrition education, improved access to sanitation, and strengthened convergence programs for stunting reduction at the nagari level.
